Living with mold can cause many different health problems, from breathing problems to coughing, allergies, and asthma. So if mold is discovered in your home, it must be taken care of immediately. The process of removing mold is called mold remediation. Mold remediation involves the removal of non-salvageable construction materials and an extensive cleaning process that should be tackled by professionals.

What is Mold Remediation?

The first step in mold remediation is finding the source of the mold. Moisture creates a hospitable environment for mold spores to grow; even if the mold is removed, it will return if its source still exists. After the source is taken care of, mold remediation can begin.

When we tackle mold remediation, our professionals will stop the spores from multiplying throughout your house. Next, we’ll seal off all openings in the area and cover them with plastic for additional protection, since mold spores easily get into the air. To prevent them from spreading, the spores are sprayed. The damaged materials are removed, and the area is cleaned using biocide and then vacuumed and scrubbed.

Our mold remediation specialists will then use fans and dehumidifiers to speed up drying. The process takes anywhere from one to five days, depending on the size of the area being treated, how long it’s been there, and the materials involved.

Affected drywall and carpet will often need replacing to create a mold-free environment. If you are concerned about the mold in your home, call us at Nixon Cleaning and Restoration LLC. We are here to answer your questions and assist with the mold remediation process.
